Vicuña present at CESCO Week 2025
From April 7 to 11, 2025, we participated in CESCO Week Santiago 2025, one of the most relevant events worldwide for the mining sector. This event, which is held every year in Santiago, Chile, brings together companies, academic institutions, government and other key industry players.
For decades, the Center for Copper and Mining Studies (CESCO) has convened leaders in this space to discuss and analyze the latest trends and challenges in the sector, ranging from exploration and sustainable development to technological innovation and the outlook for the global market of this mineral, which is fundamental for the energy transition.
In his presentation entitled "No Guts, No Glory", Jack Lundin, Vicuña board member and CEO of Lundin Mining, explored the philosophy of the Lundin Group, with a focus on the triad of People, Opportunity and Scale. Jack highlighted the global portfolio of companies in the minerals, metals, renewables and energy sectors. He also elaborated on the discovery of the Vicuña district and the steady progress of exploration and asset acquisition campaigns that will allow the necessary synergy for the development of a new, world-class district, highlighting the current potential of the region.
It was also within the framework of CESCO that we received the welcome visit of the Governor of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego, accompanied by the Ministers of Mining and Production of the province, Juan Pablo Perea and Gustavo Fernández. In a meeting held at Lundin Mining's corporate offices, members of Vicuña's Board of Directors, our General Manager, Dave Dicaire, and part of our executive team presented an overview of the company's current status and progress since its creation in January 2025. They discussed the makeup of the local management team, key milestones projected for 2025 and highlighted the important challenge of preparing a technical report that will describe the integration of the Josemaría and Filo del Sol deposits into a single integrated project for subsequent approval by the Board of Directors.
Finally, a moment we enjoyed was the traditional main dinner of the event, which was attended by the Chair of Chile, Gabriel Boric. This meeting, which was attended by close to 1,800 people, provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties with mining leaders and references on an international scale, promoting the exchange of experiences through direct contact.
