Vicuña moves towards the implementation of the ICMM standard for an even more sustainable mining industry

At Vicuña Corp, sustainability is a fundamental pillar and in line with this commitment we seek to align ourselves with the highest international standards, which is why this week we completed an important stage in the implementation of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) standard.
We worked together with the consulting firm KPMG Canada in a series of workshops that allowed us to make significant progress in this process. This initiative began at the end of 2024 with an introductory training on the ICMM standard and an exhaustive document audit, complemented with interviews. This analysis sought to identify the correlation between the standards we already implement, such as CAEM's Towards Sustainable Mining (HMS) program, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

As a result of this initial assessment, this week's full-day workshops, held on May 19, 20 and 21, focused on the development of an integrated work plan, involving all areas of Vicuña Corp relevant to the ICMM principles. In these sessions, specific deadlines were defined, responsibilities were assigned and key performance indicators were established, all with the clear goal of achieving total alignment with the demanding ICMM standards.
This progress reaffirms Vicuña Corp's commitment to responsible, transparent mining with a focus on long-term sustainability. We are convinced that the adoption of the ICMM standard will further strengthen our practices and our contribution to the sustainable development of San Juan, Argentina and the region.
