Vicuña awarded the maintenance works of the existing road to a San Juan company

On Tuesday, June 3, Vicuña announced the awarding of the maintenance works of the existing road between Angualasto and La Majadita to the company Zlato. These tasks will be 170 km long, from the town of Angualasto to La Majadita, in the department of Iglesia, province of San Juan.

The process was open exclusively to companies from San Juan, reaffirming our commitment to the development of the local value chain. During the bidding stage, six local bidders actively participated in multiple rounds of technical and commercial evaluation. Throughout the process, priority was given to transparency and equal access to information, through a structured schedule that included a pre-qualification period, a kick-off meeting with all bidders, mandatory field visits, and successive information and consultation sessions.

As for the works, low to medium complexity works will be carried out. These will include leveling and upgrading the existing road, improving curves and slopes. The river and its tributaries will be channeled to the culverts, with the removal, replacement and installation of new culverts that will include reinforced concrete structures at the crossings. In addition, gabions will be placed, the river channeling will be improved to protect the road, existing accesses will be diverted to minimize operational risks, the roadway will be widened, dust control will be carried out, safety berms will be built, and earthen berms will be maintained in temporary channels, among other complementary interventions.

With regard to labor, it is estimated that the direct and indirect personnel for the work will number approximately 100 people over approximately 13 months, according to the schedule established by the contractor. A shift rotation system is foreseen for which a camp will be set up according to the contractor's schedule.

This award would allow the interim operation of this existing road for transit and dedicated transportation. It will also strengthen logistical reliability for future transportation of fuel, light vehicles and critical supplies to remote field locations, functioning as an alternative, reliable and safe road to the current access road to the site through Guandacol, La Rioja.
